The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Francis Idike made this known to newsmen Wednesday during a press briefing to mark the 4-6th convocation of the school.
Prof. Idike explained that 61 staff of the university were dismissed for misconduct with 15 of them demoted while 25 were terminated, adding that 42 were warned.
He announced that a total of 7,956 students of the institution who graduated from 2011 to 2014 will be convoked at the weekend during the 4-6th convocation.
According to him, eight will receive diploma certificates while 7,316 will get Bachelors Degree and maintained that 122 graduates will bag PGD and 341 PhD certificates.
On funding of the university, the Vice Chancellor said: “The State Government has sustained a monthly subvention of N245m since April 2011. But this one single line subvention is hardly enough to carry our currently over N354 million monthly salary bill apart from overhead and running costs of the university. The university is in dire need of additional funding from within and outside.
